Royal Mail is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Eastbourne for a 30-hour, 5 days in 7 rota. You’ll deliver letters and parcels in the local area, using a Royal Mail van and walking routes, outdoors in all weather. Full training and a uniform are provided, with overtime paid and Sundays in the schedule.

Job type: Fixed Term contract

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 9:00/15:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays between 10:00 and 16:00.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
