Royal Mail in Rainham is looking for a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a fixed-term 6-month contract. You will sort letters and parcels, deliver by van and on foot, and build relationships with customers in your local area.

The role is outdoors in all weather, with a rotating shift including some weekends. You’ll need a full manual UK driving licence, be physically fit, reliable and able to work independently.

Location: Rainham Me Delivery Office, ME8 0QN

Job type: Fixed Term contract 6 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30.00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – morning and afternoon shifts between 8am and 8pm.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
