Royal Mail is hiring a Postie to deliver letters and parcels in West Byfleet. The role involves outdoor work, walking long distances, and driving a Royal Mail van as part of a busy, customer-facing delivery team.

You’ll work 30 hours per week on a rotating schedule, including Sundays, with paid overtime and a 9-month fixed term contract. Suitable applicants are active, self-motivated and reliable.

Location: West Byfleet Delivery Office, KT13 0XG

Job type: Fixed Term contract 9 months

Salary: £16.24 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 09:00/18:00 09:00 to 15:00 or from 12:00 to 18:00.

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays on a rota basis between 10am - 4pm.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
