Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) at Upton Delivery Office in Wirral. You will deliver letters and parcels in your local area, work on a rotating shift including weekends, and be active outdoors.

You’ll receive training, a uniform, and a Royal Mail van. A full manual UK driving licence is required, along with reliability, fitness to walk long distances, and the ability to lift mailbags.

Job type: Permanent contract

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 10:00/17:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work one in three Sundays at Upton Delivery Office 10:30/16:30

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
