Royal Mail in Tavistock is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a fixed term contract for 9 months. You will deliver letters and parcels in Tavistock, working 30 hours per week across five days, with a rotating schedule.

You must hold a full manual UK driving licence, be able to pass a driving assessment, and enjoy working outdoors in all weather. Full training and a uniform are provided, and you will earn £13.68 per hour with paid overtime.

Job description

Location: Tavistock Delivery Office, PL19 9RL

Job type: Fixed Term contract, 9 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 07:45/20:00*

Supporting two separate shifts, either 07:45 - 16:00 Letter Deliveries or 14:00 - 20:00 Parcel Deliveries.

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You may be required to work Sundays due to operational demand, however this is not a current requirement at this Delivery Office.

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
