Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Wirral is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) for a fixed-term contract of 6 months to join our delivery team in Upton. The role is based at the Upton Delivery Office and involves 30 hours per week, a rotating schedule, and weekend work with a 10:00–17:00 window.

Pay is £13.68 per hour plus paid overtime, with monthly pay and full training provided. You will sort mail, deliver by van and on foot, and build strong customer relationships in your local area while working

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points) is required.
• Ability to pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills, and lift 10kg+ mailbags.

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You'll be required to work one in three Sundays at Upton Delivery Office working between 10:00/16:00

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
