Royal Mail in Uttoxeter is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to deliver letters and parcels on a rotating schedule. The role is fixed-term for 24 months, 30 hours per week, across 5 days, including weekends, with training provided and a Royal Mail van provided.

You will walk routes, drive a van daily, and work outdoors in all weather, while building relationships with local customers and ensuring reliable service.

Qualifications

Location: Uttoxeter Delivery Office, ST14 8HE

Job type: Fixed Term
contract: 24 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 07:45/15:00*

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

What You'll Do

You'll be required to work Saturdays and Sundays

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

  • Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
  • Driving a Royal Mail van daily
  • Working in all weather conditions
  • Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
  • Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods
About You

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

  • A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
  • Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
  • Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
  • Reliable and self-motivated
  • Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
  • Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
  • Comfortable working outdoors and independently
