Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) at Whitwood Delivery Office. The role covers delivering letters and parcels in the local area, with a 30-hour week on a rotating shift including weekends. Training, a uniform and a red Royal Mail van are provided.

You will work outdoors in all weather, build customer relationships and contribute to reliable community service. A full UK driving licence is required, along with a driving assessment and physical fitness for long walking

Job type: Fixed Term contract

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 30:00hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 07:00/16:00*

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
