Job summary

Royal Mail in Market Weighton (YO25 9GG) is hiring a Postie to deliver letters and parcels across Driffield. This fixed-term role offers 30 hours per week on a rotating schedule, including weekends. The hourly rate is £13.68 with paid overtime, and shifts typically run 09:30 to 15:45.

You’ll work outdoors, in all weather, building relationships with customers while walking and driving a Royal Mail van. Full training provided.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points).
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs/hills, and lifting 10kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable and self-motivated.
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment.

Location: Market Weighton Delivery Office, YO25 9GG

Job type: Fixed Term contract (06 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 09:30/15:45*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
