Job summary

Royal Mail in Carnforth is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a fixed-term contract. You will deliver letters and parcels on a rotating shift, 30 hours a week across Monday to Sunday, including some weekends, with Sundays at Lancaster Delivery Office.

You will be trained, provided a uniform and a red van; you will drive daily, walk routes, and work outdoors in all weather, building relationships with customers and staying active.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily
• Physically fit for long walks, stairs/hills, lifting 10kg+ mailbags

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 0830/15:44*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
