Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Lisburn to sort and deliver letters and parcels. The role involves driving a Royal Mail van, walking deliveries, and serving customers in the local community.

Location: Lisburn Delivery Office, BT28 1AA

Job type: Permanent contract

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 33:00 hours per week – working 9 day across a Fortnight – 08:15 - 16:05 - Mondays / 08:20 - 15.40 - Tuesdays - Fridays, 08:15 - 15:05 - Saturdays*

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
