Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Belfast to join our delivery team. You’ll sort letters and parcels at the delivery office, then deliver by van and on foot in your local area, building strong relationships with customers and working outdoors in all weathers.

The role requires a full manual UK driving licence and the ability to pass a driving assessment. It’s a physical, active job with 30 hours per week across five days, with paid overtime and training provided.

Location: Belfast South And Central Delivery Office, BT1 1AA

Job type: Permanent contract

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 07:00am/16:00pm*

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated

• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
