A healthcare provider in Lancaster is seeking a Portering Staff member to ensure efficient movement of patients and manage essential cleaning responsibilities. The role requires adherence to Trust Policies and requires a basic level of competence in routine tasks. Candidates will be expected to carry out waste management and assist in patient transport. The post holder is required to undertake routine portering and domestic activities, which are task driven, and which require a basic level of competence within a limited amount of time under the direction of the Patient Environment Services at the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust. These tasks need to be in line with the National Cleaning Standards, department standing Operational Procedures and Trust Policies. The role focuses on ensuring a timely and efficient patient movement whilst providing excellent levels of customer care.
We operate from three main hospitals – Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal – as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
The three main hospitals provide a range of services including full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services. All offer planned care such as outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case, and inpatient surgery. Community outreach services and diagnostics are also provided across Morecambe Bay.
Communicate effectively and in a timely manner with a range of hospital staff, the public and colleagues across the Trust, and attend monthly staff meetings.
