A large retail organization is looking for a Customer Delivery Porter to engage with customers and deliver items safely. The role requires good physical fitness and a commitment to great service. Successful candidates will complete a 13-week training program to qualify for installation work. The position is full-time with shifts across six days a week.

Overview

About the role: As a Customer Delivery Porter you'll be the face of the John Lewis & Partners brand. You'll maintain a safe working environment by adhering to safety regulations in our customers’ homes. This non-driver role is a great opportunity for those looking to develop their career in one of our Customer Delivery Hubs. You will need to complete a 13-week Porter training programme and, once completed, you'll be able to successfully install products including wet connections, TV and Advanced Audio Installations. At the end of the 13 weeks you will be assessed on the above elements to obtain your Installer Porter qualification. If you join us from 5 October 2025, in addition to your contractual pay, any time worked between 18:00 - 22:00 will attract an Evening Premium at a rate of £2.50 per hour, and any time worked between 22:00 - 06:00 will attract a Night Premium at a rate of £3.50 per hour. This will also apply to existing Partners who have enrolled onto Enhanced Hours Premium arrangements.

Eligibility: Due to working time regulations, applicants must be 18 years or over to apply.

Key Responsibilities
  • Once fully trained, your day will start at the delivery hub you are based at before heading out on route with responsibilities including:
  • Being an ambassador for the John Lewis brand with great customer service as your number one priority.
  • Helping load up your lorry with the day’s deliveries, working alongside the warehouse team.
  • Demonstrating respect and courtesy for the customer's home and handling unexpected situations to find the best possible solution for your customers.
  • Installing products efficiently and correctly for our customers and demonstrating how they work once installed.
  • Keeping up to date with new products and technologies to perform your role at your best.
  • Maintaining a safe working environment.
Essential skills/experience
  • Able to cope with the physical requirements of the role (you will spend a lot of time delivering large items such as sofas, white goods, sports equipment, furniture, beds and mattresses).
Desirable skills/experience
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role.
  • Previous experience of the installation of white goods, building of furniture or related skills.
Contract details

Closing Date: September 25, 2025

Pay: £12.45 Hourly

Contract Type: Temporary

Hours of Work: Full-time (41 hours per week) across 4 shifts per week: Monday to Saturday – Monday to Thursday 10:30-21:30, Friday 09:30-20:30, Saturday 07:00-18:00.
