Job summary

A recruitment agency in Greater London is seeking experienced PMLD Teaching Assistants for the 2025/26 academic year. The role will support children with special needs, particularly those with autism, in a safe learning environment. Responsibilities include providing individual support and assisting teachers. Qualifications

  • Experience as a Special Needs Teaching Assistant for at least 3 months.
  • Experience supporting children with challenging behaviors.
  • Ability to adapt to the needs of children with special needs.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting children with PMLD and SEN on a 1:1 basis.
  • Provide daily support to teachers in teaching and learning.
  • Adhere to Safeguarding and Health and Safety policies.

Job description

At NYKays Recruitment Ltd we are recruiting for experienced PMLD Teaching Assistants to start for September 2025 / 26 academic year working on a long-term positon which could possibly lead to a permanent position.

This is a fantastic opportunity you to support schools in providing care and support to children with a range of Special Needs and behavioural difficulties within the Education / Special Needs sector.

It is essential that you have experience working with children / young people with learning difficulties, particularly autism to be considered for this role.

Responsibilities include :

  • Supporting children with PMLD and SEN on a 1 : 1 basis.
  • Provide day to day support to Teachers in teaching and learning.
  • Supporting colleagues in undertaking personal care related tasks.
  • Working effectively alongside other teaching and support staff to ensure a safe and productive work environment is maintained.
  • Adhere to the Schools policies including Safeguarding, Child Protection, Behaviour Management, Health and Safety.

Requirements :

  • Experience of supporting children with PMLD and other associated challenging behaviors
  • Experience working with as a Special Needs Teaching assistant with special needs children for at least 3 months
  • A commitment to working with children with special educational needs
  • Ability to manage confrontation & behavior
