Job summary

A maintenance contractor is seeking a skilled Plumber to provide Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) in a secure facility near Leicester. This long-term, temporary role involves working within a team to ensure plumbing systems are safe and functional. Candidates should be qualified plumbers with relevant certifications and experience in facilities maintenance, preferably in secure or educational settings. The role will require a security clearance and knowledge of water regulations.

Qualifications

  • Experience maintaining plumbing systems in commercial or public buildings.
  • CSCS card or equivalent Health & Safety awareness.
  • Experience in secure, healthcare or educational settings is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned plumbing maintenance and safety checks in accordance with PPM schedules.
  • Inspect, test, and maintain hot and cold water systems.
  • Diagnose faults and replace components of plumbing installations.

£200 - £215 per day

Working for a Maintenance Contractor

Based at one location near Leicester. This is a long‑term temporary role based at a single site within a Category C Prison.

This role will be working in a team of two inside a Category C prison.

Please be aware that you will be required to undertake a security clearance check which will mean there is a lead time for you to start of around 4/5 weeks.

We are working in partnership with a national maintenance contractor to recruit a skilled Plumber to deliver Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) within a secure facility near Leicester. You will carry out plumbing maintenance across accommodation and service areas.

You will be responsible for ensuring that plumbing systems remain safe, functional, and compliant through regular inspections and servicing.

Key Elements of the Role and Your Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned plumbing maintenance and safety checks in accordance with PPM schedules.
  • Inspect, test, and maintain hot and cold water systems, including toilets, sinks, showers, and associated pipework.
  • Diagnose faults, replace components, and complete minor repairs to plumbing installations.
  • Support the maintenance of heating and domestic water services, including flushing systems and checking TMVs.
  • Ensure compliance with Legionella control measures and water hygiene standards.
  • Complete minor multi‑trade tasks when necessary (e.g. sealing, making good).
  • Work collaboratively with facilities management and on‑site estates teams.
  • Accurately complete job sheets, time records, and compliance documentation.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Qualified Plumber or Plumbing & Heating Engineer with experience in PPM and facilities maintenance.
  • Recognised qualifications: City & Guilds/NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing or Heating.
  • Experience maintaining plumbing systems in commercial or public buildings.
  • Knowledge of water regulations, Legionella prevention, and building services.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • CSCS card or equivalent Health & Safety awareness.
  • Experience in secure, healthcare or educational settings is advantageous.
  • Willingness to comply with security and site‑specific procedures.
