Job summary

A local government authority in Greater London is seeking an experienced Plumber to join their Community Works team. This role involves carrying out plumbing repairs and installations, as well as minor groundwork and bricklaying tasks. About the Team:

Community Works is Lambeth’s in‑house repairs team, delivering high quality communal and estate‑based repairs across the borough. Our operatives work closely with supervisors, surveyors, and schedulers to provide a responsive and efficient service for our residents. The plumbing team focuses on repairs and maintenance to communal and estate‑based plumbing systems; while also carrying out related tasks associated with plumbing, such as minor brickwork or groundwork where required to complete the job.

About the Role:

As a Plumber within Community Works, you will be responsible for carrying out a variety of plumbing repairs and installations, as well as undertaking minor groundwork and bricklaying tasks where required. You will work across communal areas and estates, delivering work to a high standard, on time, and in line with health and safety requirements. Your flexibility to take on multiple trade tasks will help reduce reliance on contractors and ensure residents receive a seamless service.

To be considered for interview, your CV and supporting statement will clearly evidence:
  • Proven experience in plumbing repairs and maintenance, ideally within a housing or public sector environment.
  • Experience in minor groundwork and bricklaying tasks (desirable).
  • Knowledge of relevant health and safety standards and safe working practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to deliver high‑quality repairs.
  • Good communication and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ideally, you will hold an NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in plumbing; however, applicants with significant relevant experience will also be considered.
