Job summary

Just Eat Takeaway.com is seeking a Platform Engineer for the Batch Data Tools team to build and evolve Mobius, our internal analytics and data platform. You will design, deploy, and scale data workloads across cloud environments using Kubernetes-native architecture and modern data tools.

Strong coding and collaboration skills are essential in a fast-paced, global setting. You’ll work across teams to ensure reliability, observability, and data quality while contributing to architectural decisions

Qualifications

• Strong coding skills in Python, Java, or Scala and production-grade software experience.
• Hands-on experience with data transformation tools like Spark and DBT.
• Confidence working with Kubernetes-native platforms to deploy data workloads across cloud environments; Golang a plus.
• Familiarity with Iceberg and schema management via catalogs like AWS Glue; appreciation for data quality.
• Solid grounding in core AWS data and messaging services (S3, Glue ETL, DynamoDB, SNS, SQS, Redis).
• Proficiency in SQL and large-scale data querying (Athena) to derive insights.
• Experience orchestrating data workflows with tools like Airflow.
• Comfort establishing monitoring, logging, and alerting for applications.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and improve batch/data processing capabilities on Mobius for reliability and maintainability.
• Contribute to Mobius evolution, shaping scalable architecture decisions.
• Collaborate with internal teams to translate data requirements into production solutions.
• Establish observability, monitoring, alerts, and logging; lead incident responses.
• Engage in code reviews and raise engineering standards across the team.
• Work with Global Intelligence Platforms and external teams to deliver measurable value.
• Drive tooling, process, and developer experience improvements for Mobius.
