Job description

At CGI, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the digital foundations that power our clients' most ambitious transformation programmes. As a Platform Engineer, you will help design and deliver resilient, secure and scalable cloud platforms that enable continuous innovation and measurable business impact. You'll work as part of a collaborative Agile team where you can influence outcomes, experiment with new approaches and develop solutions that drive real value for clients across the UK. Responsibilities
  • Design & engineer secure, scalable cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Develop & automate infrastructure using IaC tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
  • Build & maintain CI/CD pipelines and tooling to enhance delivery speed and quality.
  • Optimise & stabilise platforms through monitoring, performance tuning and reliability practices.
  • Collaborate & innovate with Agile teams to embed engineering excellence and continuous learning.
  • Support & improve containerised environments using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Troubleshoot & resolve complex technical challenges across distributed systems.
Qualifications

To succeed in this position, you should bring strong hands‑on platform engineering experience, a solid understanding of cloud and automation technologies, and the ability to collaborate effectively within an Agile delivery environment. You should be confident working across the full engineering lifecycle and comfortable communicating technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.

  • Experience in software or platform engineering within Agile teams.
  • Proficiency with IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation/CDK, Ansible).
  • Experience designing and maintaining cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Strong capability with Docker, Kubernetes and container orchestration.
  • Linux/Windows expertise with scripting (Bash, PowerShell).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tooling (GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins).
  • Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools (ELK, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry).
  • Understanding of distributed systems, networking and microservices.
  • Experience improving reliability, performance and cost efficiency.
  • Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This is a hybrid position.
