A lovely primary school in Waltham Forest are looking for a teaching assistant to join their school after half term to work in year 1.

In this role you will be based across the two classes in year 2. You will be leading phonics intervention groups in both classes and should have a good knowledge of phonic development and early reading. Pupils will be working at various levels and you should have a positive and engaging approach to encourage the most reluctant learners. You will work closely with class teachers and other teaching assistants within the year group and key stage.

Pupils at the school are well-behaved and engaged in learning and will respond well to small group learning.

To apply for this role, you must have

  • Excellent verbal and written English
  • Previous experience of phonics in KS1 or EYFS
  • the ability to commit to a full-time role from January 2026
