Job summary

A local healthcare provider in Bournemouth is seeking an experienced Phlebotomist for a permanent position of 23 hours per week. The role requires home visits and work within a clinic environment under nurse and GP supervision. Responsibilities include collecting blood samples, maintaining equipment, and ensuring accurate clinical records. Candidates must have a current Phlebotomy qualification, GCSEs including English and Maths, strong communication skills, and a valid driving licence. This position offers a competitive hourly rate of £12.50.

Responsibilities

• Work in the community with housebound patients under qualified nurse direction.
• Collect venous/capillary blood samples without harm to patient.
• Obtain blood samples suitable for laboratory testing.
• Ensure all phlebotomy equipment is maintained and suitable for use.
• Experience of home visiting is desirable.

Skills

Strong communication in English, both written and spoken.

Ability to deal with distressed patients in an empathic way.

Own vehicle and valid driving licence; business insurance required.

Ability to write and maintain accurate clinical records.

Strong IT skills.

Good time management skills.

Ability to prioritise day and familiarity with routine blood tests.

Work independently within a team structure.

Demonstrate a flexible approach to work.

Education

GCSEs or equivalent including English and Maths.

Current qualification in Phlebotomy.
