A healthcare practice in Jarrow is seeking a friendly and reliable Phlebotomist to join their General Practice team. We are seeking a friendly and reliable Phlebotomist to join our General Practice team. In this patient-facing role, you will perform safe and accurate blood collections (venepuncture), ensuring samples are correctly labelled and prepared for laboratory analysis. You will provide reassurance and support to patients, maintaining dignity and confidentiality at all times.
Working closely with GPs, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, you will contribute to the efficient delivery of patient care while following NHS policies, infection control procedures, and health and safety standards.
Perform venepuncture and other blood sampling procedures safely and accurately.
Prepare, label, and handle samples for transport to external laboratories.
Ensure patient identity is checked and consent is obtained prior to procedures.
Provide reassurance and support to patients, including those with needle anxiety.
Record and update patient information accurately in clinical IT systems.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment, adhering to infection control and health & safety policies.
Communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and laboratory staff.
Assist with additional clinical tasks as required, supporting the GP practice team.
The GP Suite is a friendly, well-established GP practice located in Jarrow, serving a patient population of approximately 4,550. Our clinical team includes three GP Partners, two Advanced Clinical Practitioners and two Practice Nurses, all of whom are supported by an excellent Administration, Reception and Management team.

Working under the direction of the Nurse Manager and as part ofthe practice multidisciplinary team, the post-holder will be responsible forperforming venepuncture, as requested by the clinical team, to the entitledpatient population. In addition, thePhlebotomist will be expected to support the nursing team on an as requiredbasis.
The GP Suite will ensure thepost-holder has access to appropriate clinical supervision and an appropriatenamed individual in the organisation to provide general advice and support on aday-to-day basis.
The post-holder will be an integral part ofthe general practice team.
