Role Overview

As a Pharmacist Prescriber, you will be an essential part of our multidisciplinary teams, offering recovery-focused alcohol and drug intervention services. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Clinical Duties:
    • Assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate treatments.
    • Prescribe and review medications, ensuring they meet service user needs and comply with best practices.
    • Prioritize and address health problems, intervening in complex or urgent situations as necessary.
    • Oversee BBV vaccination and immunization programs.
    • Promote health strategies that encourage healthy lifestyles.
  • Communication and Advocacy:
    • Effectively communicate with service users and their carers, overcoming barriers to ensure clear understanding.
    • Act as an advocate for service users and colleagues.
    • Maintain accurate and complete records of consultations.
  • Quality and Development:
    • Assess the effectiveness of care delivery through reviews and formal evaluations.
    • Participate in the annual appraisal system to foster professional growth.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Essential:
    • Qualified pharmacist with current GPhC registration and two years’ post-qualification experience OR first-level registered nurse with a current PIN and three years post-qualification experience.
    • Qualified Non-Medical Prescriber.
    • Minimum of one year’s recent experience in substance misuse treatment.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of harm reduction and health promotion interventions.
    • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Full driving licence and access to own transport, or ability to travel between services as required.
