Job summary

Blue Cross in Thirsk, North Yorkshire, is seeking two Pet Welfare Assistants to join the on-site Rehoming & Fostering team. You will care for dogs and cats, conduct assessments, and support rehabilitation plans to move pets toward adoption.

This role includes weekend shifts and on-site accommodation, with driving duties for pet transport. The role requires a full manual driving licence, experience with animals, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Experience of having previously worked or volunteered with domestic animals or in an animal welfare environment.
• Experience in a customer focused environment with high customer satisfaction.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Good organisational and administration skills including computerised systems.
• Current full manual driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Care for pets and carry out assessments and rehabilitation plans for adoption readiness.
• Record information, complete paperwork and communicate with owners and stakeholders.
• Advise adopters with in-person or virtual guidance; work with Adoptions Coordinator on welfare outcomes.
