Job summary

Blue Cross is seeking two Pet Welfare Assistants for on-site services in Thirsk, with weekend shifts. You will care for pets in our rehoming centre, performing assessments and supporting owners during the adoption process.

The role requires a full manual driving licence, a compassionate approach, and experience with domestic animals. We offer on-site accommodation for pets, night checks when needed, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Experience of having previously worked or volunteered with domestic animals or in an animal welfare environment.
• Previous experience in working in a customer focused environment and used to achieving a high level of customer satisfaction.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Good organisational and administration skills to include computerised systems.
• Current full manual driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Care for pets during the preparation stage, including assessments and rehabilitation plans.
• Record information and communicate with owners; coordinate with Adoptions Coordinator.
• Support the adoption process and provide guidance to new owners.
• Work weekends (7.5 hours per shift) and assist with on-site care.
• Transport pets using company vehicles when required and hold a valid driving licence.
