Job summary

Blue Cross UK is seeking two Pet Welfare Assistants for our Thirsk rehoming centre to provide on-site animal care. You will support welfare, assessments, and rehabilitation plans to help pets reach adoption or foster outcomes, working both with the team and with pet owners.

You will also help document care, share practical demonstrations, and assist with adoptions alongside the Adoptions Coordinator. These permanent roles involve Saturday or Sunday 7.5 hour shifts, onsite accommodation, and

Qualifications

• Experience with domestic animals or in animal welfare.
• Customer-focused with high service standards.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organisational and administrative abilities.
• Current full manual driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Care for pets, perform assessments and rehabilitation plans.
• Prepare pets for adoption or rehoming with minimal delay.
• Record information accurately and manage paperwork.
• Provide in-person or virtual advice to new owners.
• Collaborate with Adoptions Coordinator to inform owners about care and training.
