Job summary

Blue Cross UK is recruiting a Pet Welfare Assistant for our off-site services in Burford. This permanent part-time role involves managing pet cases, ensuring welfare standards, and supporting foster homes and Home Direct adoptions.

You will be part of the Rehoming & Fostering Services team with a rota of 2.5 days per week and on-site accommodation arrangements. The role requires empathy, animal welfare focus, good communication, and a valid driving licence.

Qualifications

• Experience of having previously worked or volunteered with domestic animals or in an animal welfare environment.
• Good experience of recording information and being able to accurately convey this when communicating with others
• Previous experience in working in a customer focused environment and used to achieving a high level of customer satisfaction.
• Good organisational and administration skills to include computerised systems.
• A full driving licence.
• The ability to demonstrate, understand and apply our Blue Cross values.
• Not essential but beneficial: qualifications or experience in animal behaviour or animal training.
• Experience of cash handling.
• Experience of working to strict health and safety procedures.
• Understanding of safeguarding issues.

Responsibilities

• Manage a specific number of pet cases within the offsite pet care service (rehoming or Home Direct).
• Ensure welfare standards are met and rehabilitation plans are followed and supported for pets in foster homes.
• Assess pets preparing for a new home in offsite services to support swift placement.
• Provide excellent customer service as the public face of Blue Cross during interactions.
