Job summary

Blue Cross is seeking a Pet Welfare Assistant for the on-site Rehoming & Foster­ing team in Thirsk. This permanent part‑time role (26.25 hours per week) involves caring for pets and supporting their stay at the Thirsk rehoming centre.

You will assess and rehabilitate pets, contribute to successful adoptions, and collaborate with owners, ensuring accurate records and guidance from the Adoptions Coordinator. A full driving licence is required and onsite accommodation may be provided.

Qualifications

• Experience with domestic animals or welfare environment.
• Customer-focused experience with high satisfaction.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Good organisational and administration skills.
• Current full manual driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Care for pets in our care, carrying out assessments and rehabilitation plans.
• Assist in preparing pets for adoption or other outcomes with minimal delay.
• Record information accurately and communicate with owners about training or medical needs.
• Work closely with the Adoptions Coordinator to provide in-person or virtual guidance to new owners.
