Job description

We have an exciting opportunity to join Merton's Children in Care and Permanence Service in the role of Personal Advisor.

We are looking for two candidates with relevant experience in working with adolescents and young adults and who have the skills to undertake effective work with young people who are leaving care or who are care experienced.

As a Personal Advisor in the Children in Care and Permanence Service, you will work directly with young people aged 16-25, ensuring that they are fully supported to leave care and to live independently. You will advise and support young people and contribute to their pathway planning to ensure young people are supported to achieve their aspirations and goals. You will remain in touch with young people who are leaving care or who have left care and be their named key worker.

Successful candidates for this post will have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be skilled in a relationship based approach. You will have good time management skills and the ability to manage competing demands. The role involves working with sensitive and confidential information so you will be committed to ensuring confidentiality.

You will work with children leaving care, including unaccompanied asylum seeking young people, to ensure effective pathway planning, and you will have an excellent understanding of the needs of care experienced young people. An ability to identify safeguarding concerns will also be key so that young people receive the right support at the right time in accordance with their individual needs.
