The Opportunity

A fantastic, full-time, and immensely rewarding opening exists for an experienced PE Teacher (QTS) to lead and deliver high-quality Physical Education across Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS3/4). This crucial role involves teaching pupils across the secondary age range, building foundational skills, and coaching successful school teams.

  • Curriculum Development: Contributing to the ongoing development of an engaging, diverse, and accessible PE curriculum.
  • Coaching & Teams: Taking responsibility for leading and coaching extra-curricular sports clubs and school teams for inter-school competitions.
Core Responsibilities
  • Take full responsibility for planning, preparing, and delivering a dynamic and challenging PE curriculum to mixed-ability classes across KS3 and KS4, including GCSE PE/BTEC Sport (if applicable).
  • Conduct continuous and meaningful assessment of student performance, tracking progress against clear learning objectives and providing constructive feedback.
  • Establish and maintain a safe, disciplined, and highly positive learning environment both within the sports hall/gym and on the playing fields.
  • Lead and manage engaging extra-curricular sports clubs, demonstrating commitment beyond the standard school day.
  • Collaborate effectively with the wider PE department and pastoral team to ensure student safety, monitor progress, and manage resources.
  • Maintain accurate, professional records of student attendance, progress, and performance data.
  • Foster strong links with local sporting clubs and organisations to enhance opportunities for students.
Essential Profile
  • Possession of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is mandatory, along with a relevant degree in Physical Education or Sports Science.
  • Proven experience teaching PE at the Secondary level (KS3 and KS4) is essential.
  • Demonstrable expertise and passion for teaching a broad range of sports, including both team and individual activities.
  • A genuine commitment to promoting inclusion and adapting activities to ensure meaningful participation for all students.
  • High levels of energy, motivation, resilience, and flexibility, coupled with excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work confidently and proactively as part of a strong departmental team.
  • Possession of an Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or willingness to complete one promptly).
