Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician to join our team in the Prescription Hub for Healthwest PCN. This position would suit newly qualified Pharmacy Technicians or more experienced Technicians looking to move into the Primary Care sector. The Prescribing Hub manages all of the prescription requests for the 4 constituent PCN practices (Pembroke Road Surgery, The Family Practice, The Student Health Service and Whiteladies Health Centre), with the support of Clinical Pharmacists and GPs. The aim of the Prescribing Hub is to maximise safe, cost effective best practice in prescribing to improve the quality of patient care. The post holder will help patients to get the best from their medicines by switching medications to agreed and approved protocols, improving repeat prescribing processes in General Practice, including promotion of repeat dispensing and online ordering, minimising clinical risk and aiming to reduce wasted medicines. The successful candidate will have to enrol in the CPPE Primary Care Pathway.
You will provide support to our GPs, Clinical Pharmacists, other clinical staff and reception teams; playing a central role in repeat prescribing processes; training and development of prescription clerks; medicines reconciliation post discharge and on other transfers of care; liaising with our patients, nursing homes, carers, hospital and community pharmacies; responding to medication queries and updating medical records.
We are a small close knit team, who are dedicated and enthusiastic about improving the service that we offer to our patients.
Reporting to the Senior Pharmacy Technician, you will be working in our dedicated Prescription Hub alongside our Prescribing Clerks, helping them to develop their skills in dealing with repeat prescription queries.
We highly value all of our staff and look to offer progression and development to all members of our team.
