A local government authority in Cambridge is seeking a Payroll Officer to ensure accurate payroll processing under the shared service. The successful candidate will undergo a Level 3 Payroll Apprenticeship and assist with multiple payrolls. This role in Payroll Team comes at an exciting time for the Council and is a crucial position for someone looking to put their own stamp on the role and develop professionally within the authority.
The shared payroll service processes the payroll for all employees and elected members of Cambridge City Council and South Cambridgeshire District Council. The shared payroll service provides payroll expertise, resilience and create efficient ways of working.
In this role the post holder will be expected to complete a Level 3 Payroll Apprenticeship which will be organised by the council’s L&D team (unless equivalent qualification already held). Whilst undertaking the apprenticeship, the post holder will also be responsible for assisting with the preparation, running and output of all payrolls within the shared service alongside another Payroll Officer. During the apprenticeship the role will be paid at 80% of lowest Band 4 salary scale point but upon completion this will go up to 100% - if equivalent qualification or experience is held and demonstrated by the candidate then salary will be paid at 100%. After completion of the apprenticeship the postholder will also be expected to deputise for the Payroll Supervisor in their absence.
This is a full-time role, for 37 hours per week.

This is hybrid – working in Cambridge on site or at one of our offices a few days and working from home. You will be able to balance your work location accordingly.
