Job description

The Trust has adopted the principles of Safer Recruitment and will safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to do the same. Successful applicants will be required to undertake an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check and subscribe to the DBS update service.

'CAT employs rolling recruitment methodologies, with shortlisting and interviews for some roles taking place as and when applications are received. This may mean that some roles are recruited to before the closing date, we therefore advise that applications are made without undue delay'.

CAT was formed in 2019 out of the success of its founding school Carlton Bolling. Since then, the Trust has experienced rapid growth, currently comprising nine schools (three secondary, three primary and three special). Our growth plan is different, in that we do not have ambitions to become a large trust. Instead, we will limit growth to around 10-12 schools, focussing on improving outcomes across the trust in accordance with our mission 'Excellence for All' and ambition to make all schools 'Outstanding'. This commitment to high standards can be seen through the Ofsted ratings of our schools (all Good with two Outstanding) and the huge array of awards at local, regional, and national level. Find out more about our Awards and Achievements here: Trust Achievements - Carlton Academy Trust.

We recognise the crucial importance of staff to our success, so do all we can to protect their wellbeing and enable them to reach their full potential. This includes stripping away unnecessary meetings and administrative tasks so they can maximise their time concentrating on what they are trained to do, what they are best at, and want to do most. This facilitates the 'outstanding' outcomes we aspire to whilst maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Additionally, where roles allow, we adopt a flexible approach to working from home to further promote work-life balance.

We are seeking a highly organised and experienced payroll professional to join our central team and take ownership of managing the trust payroll under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer. This is a new and exciting opportunity for someone who thrives on accuracy, efficiency and collaboration, ensuring all employees are paid correctly and on time each month. The successful candidate will be the main point of contact with our payroll provider and will work closely with HR and finance colleagues to ensure seamless processing of payroll, pensions and employee benefits. In return, we offer a flexible and supportive working environment where you will have the autonomy to manage your responsibilities and contribute to the continued success of the trust.

We are proud to offer a comprehensive employee benefits package through our 'Carlton Cares' programme to all staff, designed to support our colleagues physical, mental and financial wellbeing. These benefits are similar to those found in many large private sector employers and include a fully funded Health Plan (Simplyhealth) and an Employee Assistance Programme (Spectrum.Life), in addition to salary sacrifice and employee discount schemes. Some schools also have early Friday finishing times, which are also popular amongst staff. Find out more about our 'Carlton Cares' benefits package here: Employee Benefits - Carlton Academy Trust.

Carlton Academy Trust is a fantastic place to work with an exciting future ahead. If you like what you hear and you share our ambitions, we would love to hear from you and have you join us on our journey to deliver exceptional education and achieve our vision of 'Excellence for All'.
