Job summary

National Highways in the South East region is seeking an Engineer to join the Pavement/Roads Team. You will lead the development and delivery of pavement renewal schemes to ensure the strategic road network safely serves customers now and into the future.

Working with project teams and third parties, you will provide technical support, develop early renewal solutions, and prepare briefs for design and construction contractors. The role may require unsociable hours and driving to sites.

Qualifications

• Membership of professional Body (desirable) or working towards Membership
• Degree or HND in relevant discipline and appropriate experience, or equivalent
• Good knowledge of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) standards and their application on the highway network
• Experience in highway infrastructure design, construction and delivery methods
• Good knowledge of CDM 2015

Responsibilities

• Lead in the development and delivery of pavement renewal schemes within the South East region.
• Coordinate works across the region with project teams and third parties, providing technical support and ensuring adherence to asset class strategies, policies and standards.
• Develop early solutions for renewals and improvements, including compiling documents, evidence and options for value management.
• Develop technical briefs for the design and construction contractor for renewal work.
• Support Project Managers with materials approvals, contractor vetting, on-site inspection, and Health and Safety files.
