Job summary

National Highways in the South East is seeking an Engineer to join the Pavement/Roads Team in the Operations Directorate. You will lead the development and delivery of pavement renewal schemes to ensure the strategic road network safely meets customer needs now and in the future.

Based in the South East with offices in Basingstoke or Maidstone, the role requires coordinating works across the region, providing technical support, and working with project teams and third parties.

Qualifications

• Membership of professional Body (desirable) or working towards Membership
• Degree or HND in relevant discipline and appropriate experience, or equivalent
• Good knowledge of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) standards and their application on the highway network.
• Experience in highway infrastructure design, construction and delivery methods.
• Good knowledge of CDM 2015

Responsibilities

• Coordinate works across the region with project teams and third parties.
• Lead in the development and delivery of pavement renewal schemes.
• Develop the technical briefs provided to the design and construction contractor for renewal and improvement works.
• Provide technical support to Project Managers by assisting with materials approvals, vetting of contractors' compliance, inspection support on site, and reviewing Health and Safety Files.
• Support identification and management of asset studies and survey works to keep assets in serviceable condition.
