Job summary

National Highways is seeking an Engineer to join the Pavement/Roads Team in the South East region, to lead in the development and delivery of pavement renewal schemes and provide technical support across projects.

You will work with project teams and third parties to coordinate works, adhering to asset class strategies and standards. Role may require unsociable hours and a need to travel to sites.

Qualifications

• Degree or HND in relevant discipline with appropriate experience.
• Good knowledge of DMRB standards and their application on the highway network.
• Experience in highway infrastructure design, construction and delivery methods.
• Good knowledge of CDM 2015.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health and safety needs and wellbeing of customers and employees are considered during planning and delivery of each service activity.
• Provide support in asset studies and survey works, prioritising needs to keep assets in serviceable condition and meet standards.
• Develop early solutions for renewals and/or improvements, including documents, evidence and options for value management, considering new techniques and costs.
• Develop technical briefs for design and construction contractor for renewal and improvement work.
• Provide technical support to Project Managers by assisting with materials approvals, vetting contractor compliance, site inspection support, and Health and Safety Files review.
