Job summary

Practice Plus Group is seeking an experienced Patient Pathway Lead for Shepton Mallet Hospital on a 6–12 month fixed-term contract. You will direct patient administration, lead bookings, reception, medical records and discharge coordination, and drive capacity and access improvements across NHS and private patients.

Qualifications

• Experience leading and developing teams within administration/operational settings.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Experience with demand, capacity and utilisation management.
• Experience with referral management systems.
• Strong IT skills and ability to analyse and interpret information.
• Experience coaching and developing staff.
• Healthcare setting experience desirable.
• Independent healthcare sector experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead administration, reception, medical records and booking teams.
• Manage patient pathways from referral through to discharge.
• Oversee clinic and theatre scheduling to maximise capacity utilisation.
• Review and develop referral pathways and administrative processes.
• Monitor data quality and implement improvements.
• Manage recruitment, performance, absence, training and development of staff.
• Lead weekly scheduling meetings and support governance activities.
• Build relationships with consultants, GPs and external stakeholders.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance patient experience and operational effectiveness.
