A leading NHS trust in the UK is seeking an Assistant Operational Support Manager for its Emergency Department, responsible for supporting patient tracking and ensuring safe patient care. The role includes managing relationships with clinical teams, handling patient inquiries, and utilizing electronic record systems. Candidates should have a solid educational background, customer service experience, and relevant IT skills. This position requires a role check and is suitable for individuals looking for a meaningful career in healthcare.
To undertake a range of administrative & clerical duties, working alongside the nursing & medical workforce, to support patient tracking & timely provision of patient care. Supporting to avoid delays ensuring safe patient care and positive patient experience both within the Emergency Department (ED) & the wider organisation.
To actively monitor the patient journey throughout ED, to ward transfer or discharge. Escalating appropriately any delays & to work closely with the multidisciplinary team to deliver a high quality patient focused service.

Work closely with the ED Nurse Coordinator (NIC), Emergency Physician in Charge (EPIC) & the wider team to support patient flow, in line with national Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Utilise the electronic patient record system (Meditech) to ensure accurate tracking of the patient journey throughout their time within the ED,
Handle incoming telephone calls in a professional manner, directing callers to the appropriate source of information
Provide regular tannoy announcements to communicate current waiting times to patients for both minors & majors. Demonstrate effective IT skills in accessing & inputting data relevant to patient flow in ED e.g accessing blood results/swab results & any other appropriate investigations & escalating any delays in process.
Liaise with Specialty teams to ensure timely review of patients, ensuring correct entry of any decisions to admit and escalating any delays as appropriate.
