Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive difference at leadership level for some of the most vulnerable children and young people in the Wakefield district. You will be working within our Wakefield Local Authority Alternative Provision team and alongside multi‑agency partners to ensure effective support is determined and provided to schools and other settings for children and young people who are at risk of or subject to permanent exclusion.

You will be collaborative and efficient, chairing our established multi‑agency Alternative Provision Panels as they identify and pursue the right support offers from our Menu of Support, and holding partners to account for their next steps. You will also undertake responsibilities around data gathering and analysis, project management tasks, and quality assurance activities internally and in alternative provision settings across the district. Please take a look at the job description for more detail.

Whilst a background in education is desirable, it is not essential. We welcome applications from professionals with other backgrounds such as health, social care or industry, as training will be provided regarding the educational elements of the role.

Our Alternative Provision team is supportive and collaborative. No two days are the same; we all thrive on the variety and the opportunity to make a positive difference to the lives of children and young people. You would have weekly opportunities to work from home, as well as (currently) one day per week in the office, and attendance at various settings across the district. You will need a valid driving licence or access to public or other transport in order to undertake visits to any setting within the district, and a positive and proactive attitude to match our own!

We look forward to hearing from you!
