Finishing Operative – Paint Sprayer

Location: Denham

Shifts: Week A - 06:00 to 14:00, Week B - 13:45 to 22:00

Salary: £31,500 + 22.5% shift uplift

A leading manufacturing organisation is seeking an experienced Finishing Operative to join its specialised finishing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for applying a range of sprayed finishes to precision components, ensuring all work meets exacting technical and quality standards.

The Role

This position involves preparing, masking, spraying and inspecting components using a variety of paints, coatings and lacquers. Working within a modern finishing environment, the Finishing Operative will ensure all materials are handled safely, equipment is maintained correctly and production schedules are met.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Preparing surfaces and applying gloss, matt, primer and topcoat finishes using hand‑spray equipment.
  • Setting and operating ovens to required temperatures and curing times.
  • Masking components to drawings and specifications.
  • Unmasking, checking and touching up components to ensure high‑quality finishes.
  • Carrying out visual and automated inspections, including paint thickness and gloss level measurements.
  • Maintaining spray booths, equipment, pumps and associated machinery.
  • Monitoring and maintaining stock levels on SAP.
  • Ensuring PPE/RPE checks are completed and all work adheres to H&S, COSHH and company procedures.
  • Supporting Lean activities including 5S, Continuous Improvement and TPM.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Proven spraying skills and competency with basic hand tools.
  • The ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail, good manual dexterity and a flexible approach to shift work.
  • Basic IT skills and an understanding of workplace health and safety.
  • GCSEs (A‑C) in Maths and English.
