JOB DESCRIPTION

A Personal Care Assistant is required to provide personal and practical assistance, to enable a physically disabled lady to live independently and manage her mental health. The Personal Care Assistant will assist, the person, in all areas of practical needs and help her to carry out her day-to-day activities, to help the lady to lead individual lifestyle in her own home and in the community.

12 HOURS PER WEEK. Employer is happy for the hours to be flexible for the right PA. Employer wishes for the hours to be split Mon, Tues & Wed then Sat & Sun. Employer requires that showers and personal care are carried as and when needed depending on employers’ health & wellbeing on that day. However, employer requests that PA is not a student, due to needing consistency in her care.

Rate of pay £12.21p/h. The Personal Assistant should understand their role in supporting the needs of the disabled person, feel confident to ask what their needs are, always listen request and interpret them correctly.

The employer is a young female with disability which can cause her wellbeing to vary meaning that more intensive support will be needed when unwell. She requires assistance to live independently, leave the home safely and have a good quality of life. Looking for a PA who is friendly and capable with experience in the care sector and providing care on a 121 basis with a bedside manner. Ability to think on their feet, think independently and communicate clearly and openly with employer. Employer has full mental capacity and can communicate her needs clearly. Physical and mental health needs present. This is the employer's first experience of a having a PA so experience & knowledge would be of benefit to the employer.

About home

Employer lives at home with family members. Employer’s room is on the 1st floor which is problematic as stairs are a challenge physically for the employer. Employers bedroom is out of way of other family members but bathroom is shared. There is also a downstairs toilet/shower room in the property. Family home is located near a park, near amenities & not far from the city centre.

Employer is diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND). This condition’s effects vary & can result in seizures.

  • Female PA required due to personal care needs
  • Driving license preferable with access to own vehicle
  • Religiously sensitive to Islam
  • Ability to provide personal care (inc. washing, dressing, applying cream, prepping clothes, and hair care)
  • Preparation of foods to enable employer to cook her own meals
  • Ability to prepare and cook nutritious meals
  • Batch cooking of meals to be done & used when PA is not available.
  • Ability to clean up after food preparation
  • Laundry needs (washing, drying, putting away, some ironing)
  • Assistance to attend appointments (medical & non‑medical)
  • Organizing medication
  • Prompts for daily tasks (ex. eating, medication, self‑care)
  • Shopping to meet requirements
  • Personal administration tasks and communication with professionals and other agencies
  • Advocating on behalf of the employer when she is unable to do so
  • Navigating public spaces for social and leisure purposes
