The Role

We are seeking an exceptional Operations Transformation Director to lead a complex portfolio of strategic change initiatives that will shape the future of our organisation. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, you will be accountable for designing and delivering transformation programmes that enhance operational efficiency, scalability, and performance across the business.

This is a pivotal leadership role, driving organisational capability and embedding innovative solutions to meet evolving customer and regulatory demands. You will partner with senior executives to define and execute transformation strategies, oversee large-scale deployment programmes, and ensure governance and delivery against agreed KPIs.

With responsibility for a multi-million capital investment portfolio and a team of four direct reports (with wider accountability for circa 600 employees), you will influence at the highest levels, including presenting progress to the Executive Board. Your remit will include managing union relationships, optimising cost structures, and ensuring alignment of operational and technology strategies to deliver sustainable growth.

Skills & Experience

We are looking for a proven transformation leader:

  • Extensive senior leadership experience in complex, matrix-managed organisations, with a track record of delivering large-scale operational change programmes on time and within budget.
  • Advanced programme management expertise, strong analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while aligning cross-functional teams.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills, with experience engaging at executive level and managing union relationships.
  • A collaborative leadership style, outstanding communication skills, and the ability to inspire and coach teams through change.
  • Strong commercial acumen, including experience managing significant budgets with proven experience developing strategic evaluation of budget and investment appraisals to ensure financial sustainability, value for money, and alignment with organisational priorities.
  • Strategic foresight and problem-solving capability, with the ability to anticipate challenges and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Proven ability to drive improvements in quality and performance across an operational team through the use of analytics and data to prioritise targeted interventions and transformational change.
