Job summary

A tech consultancy is seeking an experienced OpenShift Senior Engineer for a hybrid role based in Sheffield. You will design and implement OpenShift cluster architectures while collaborating with various teams to meet technical requirements. The ideal candidate possesses strong hands-on experience with OpenShift, Kubernetes, and automation tools. This initial 3-6 month contract includes competitive pay and the opportunity to work 3 days on-site and 2 days remotely.

OpenShift Senior Engineer

Whitehall resources are looking for an OpenShift Senior Engineer. This role is hybrid working with 3 days per week onsite in Sheffield, and the remainder remote working, for an initial 3-6 month contract.

Job Description:
The OpenShift Senior Engineer will be responsible for designing and implementing robust OpenShift cluster architectures that meet the bank's business and technical requirements. This includes multi-cloud, hybrid, and on-premises deployments, ensuring scalability, security, and compliance across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement OpenShift cluster architecture for multi-cloud, hybrid, or on-prem environments.
  • Collaborate with architects, product owners, and engineering teams to align solutions with the bank's strategic roadmap.
  • Configure and optimize OpenShift clusters for performance, resilience, and security.
  • Integrate OpenShift with CI/CD pipelines, monitoring tools, and enterprise systems.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues related to container orchestration and networking.
  • Develop automation scripts and templates for cluster provisioning and life cycle management.
  • Ensure compliance with the bank's security and regulatory standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

Required Skills & Experience:
  • Strong hands-on experience with OpenShift (installation, configuration, and administration).
  • Deep understanding of Kubernetes, container orchestration, and microservices architecture.
  • Expertise in Linux systems, networking, and security principles.
  • Familiarity with multi-cloud and hybrid cloud architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Experience with automation tools (Ansible, Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
