Job summary

GM Performance Power Units is seeking a Battery Controls Engineer to join the ERS Team in Concord, NC. You will develop embedded software for the HV battery management system, implement real-time control algorithms, and collaborate with controls and hardware teams to ensure cohesive operation.

The role requires strong C/C++ skills, MiL/SiL/HiL experience, and knowledge of CAN/CAN FD, Ethernet, and HV systems.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or related discipline; OR Bachelor's with 5+ years embedded software development experience.
• Experience with battery management systems and battery control algorithms (protection/derating, state of charge, state of health).
• Familiarity with high voltage systems, CAN/CAN FD networks, and real-time programming environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain embedded software in C/C++ for HV battery management systems and related components.
• Implement sensor data acquisition, HALs, real-time comms, and diagnostics features.
• Conduct MiL/SiL/HiL testing and trackside validation; ensure robust, safe software in motorsport environments.
