Job summary

GM Performance Power Units in Concord, NC seeks a Battery Controls Engineer to design, implement, and optimize embedded software for the HV battery management system and related components. You will work on real-time control algorithms, sensor data handling, and diagnostics in a high-performance motorsport context, collaborating with controls and electrical hardware teams.

The role requires strong C/C++ skills, RTOS experience, and knowledge of CAN/CAN FD, Ethernet, and other serial protocols;

Qualifications

• Master's/PhD in EE, CS, Embedded Systems, or related; or Bachelor's with 5+ years embedded software experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain embedded software for HV battery management system and cells.
• Implement sensor data acquisition, HAL, real-time comms, and diagnostics features.
• Collaborate with controls and electrical hardware teams to ensure cohesive system operation.
• Conduct debugging, verification, and validation including MiL/SiL/HiL and trackside testing.
• Create requirements and unit tests for robust, clean, scalable code bases.
• Adhere to software quality, safety, and regulatory standards for high-performance motorsport applications.
• Maintain technical documentation and contribute to continuous improvement of embedded software development.
