GM Performance Power Units is seeking a Battery Controls Engineer to join the ERS team in Concord, NC. You will develop and optimize embedded software for the HV battery management system, implementing real-time control algorithms for protection, SOC, and SOH within a Formula 1 hybrid powertrain.

The role requires collaboration across controls and electrical hardware, rigorous MiL/SiL/HiL testing, and adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or related field; or Bachelor's with 5+ years embedded software.
• Expertise in battery management systems and control algorithms (SOC, SOH, protection/derating).
• Strong knowledge of HV battery physics and high voltage bus networks.
• Proficient in embedded C, real-time OS, and CAN/CAN FD communication.

Responsabilités

• Develop, test, and maintain embedded software for HV battery management system.
• Implement data acquisition, hardware abstraction layers, real-time communication, and diagnostics.
• Collaborate with controls and electrical hardware teams for cohesive system operation.
• Perform MiL/SiL/HiL testing and trackside validation.
• Produce requirements and unit tests; ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
