Job description
Obstetrics and Gynaecology Clinical Fellow 6 Months Fixed term ST3+

Applications are invited for a Fixed Term Clinical Fellow (ST3+) posts in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Southmead Hospital for 6 months. This post is full time. Part time applicants would be considered. There may be opportunity for the post to be extended beyond 6 months.

Main duties of the job

Full Registration with the GMC is essential. The Trust has teaching status and is linked with the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England. Experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices or equivalent via MRCOG is essential. This post is not recognised for training and does not have postgraduate deanery approval. However, the job would give opportunities for a successful candidate to further their learning. Candidates must have, or be eligible for, GMC registration that allows them to work in posts that are not recognised for training. The post will have an out of hours component on the middle grade rota. There are 2 middle grades on call overnight and daytime.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Essential

  • Evidence of understanding and application of knowledge of specialty.
  • Willing to seek help from senior colleagues as appropriate.
  • Competent history taking and examination skills
  • Competent at ST3 level obstetrics and gynaecology
  • Demonstrate interest in research.
  • Demonstrate experience and enthusiasm in teaching undergraduates and postgraduates
  • Able to contribute to departmental teaching sessions

Desirable

  • Contribution to published research
  • Involvement with basic medical audit.
  • Understands principles of clinical audit
Work Experience

Essential

  • Completed pre-registration year (or equivalent outside the UK).
  • Experience and ability to work at a registrar (St3+) level.
  • Not more than 5 years experience of Obs/Gynae in UK
  • Experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices (or equivalent via postgraduate examinations eg MRCOG part 2).

Desirable

  • Strong interest in managing/education around complex Placenta Accreta
Education/Training/Qualifications

Essential

  • MB BS (or equivalent)
  • Full Registration with the GMC or Limited Registration to cover scope of employment
  • Evidence of training progression
  • MRCOG part 1
