Job description
Overview

Contracted hours 37.5 per week over 5 out of 7 days. This will normally be Monday to Friday; there may be a requirement to cover bank holidays and weekends on occasion. The post will require travel between different clinical sites across the county and community locations including the patients home. There is some opportunity to work from home for some elements of the role.

The Nutrition and Dietetic team in Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care Trust is undertaking a service review that may involve integration with Worcester Acute Hospital Trust Nutrition and Dietetic Service. The service currently includes provision for inpatients referred from trust inpatient units, community hospitals and mental health units, enterally tube fed adults and children living in their own homes, paediatric referrals in community clinics, and patients and healthcare professionals as part of the Community Adult Eating Disorder team and Children\'s Eating Disorder service.

Main duties
  • Be responsible for leading the provision of a highly specialist, evidence-based Nutrition and Dietetic service for Community patients in Worcestershire and providing expert advice and guidance for statutory bodies and other agencies as appropriate.
  • Lead on the development and implementation of high quality, multi-professional nutrition education and training programmes within the Trust and to continually develop the Community Nutrition and Dietetic service.
  • Be responsible for the Community Nutrition and Dietetic service budget and resources at approval level and management of the team including recruitment, appraisal and supervision, continuing professional development and performance and the management of complaints and incidents within the service.
  • Work across organisational and professional boundaries to develop effective partnerships and interagency joint working in accordance with agreed strategic direction and frameworks.
  • Be responsible for the delivery of performance of the dietetic service against governance, financial, trust and group priorities and targets in collaboration with the Community Services Manager.
  • Spend 40% of working time clinically within your area of expertise.
  • Key link with local universities for the strategic management of pre-registration placement education.
  • Provide line management for more junior dietitians.
