Role: Nursing Associate
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time, 37.5hrs
Salary: £33,225 per annum
About the role
Reporting to the Clinical Nurse Specialist, the Nursing Associate provides highly skilled support to the Clinical Nurse Specialist, including nurse-led clients on their caseload in the community supported by Cera Care. The Nursing Associate works with people of all ages in a variety of settings to deliver hands-on person-centred care. Key responsibilities include assisting in matching staff to nurse-led customers to deliver a professional and safe service, adhering to Cera Care Policy on Patient Safety and Risk Management, and ensuring evidence-based nursing supervised care. The post holder will risk assess client needs, assist in devising individual holistic care plans that are regularly evaluated, contribute to a national on-call rota for advice and cover, and develop relationships across multidisciplinary teams in which they work. The role also involves working alongside the Clinical Nurse Specialist in ongoing business development.
Responsibilities
- Act in a professional manner and adhere to the NMC Code.

- Contribute to external regulatory and compliance inspections.
- Adhere to company data protection policy and GDPR.
- Report any area of clinical concern to the Clinical Nurse Specialist and escalate as per company policy.
- Report any areas of operational concern as per company policy.
- Work within the boundaries of the registration and ensure patient safety and quality of care.
Operational Management
- Be visible and know the clients in their caseload by regular care rounds and proactive home visits.
- Supervise and ensure evidence-based care is being delivered by carers during regular face-to-face home visits.
- Support individuals, their families and carers when faced with unwelcome news and life-changing diagnoses.
- Perform and record clinical observations (e.g., blood pressure, temperature, respirations, pulse).
- Discuss and share information with the Clinical Nurse Specialist on a client's condition, behaviour, activity and responses.
- Maintain privacy, dignity and safety of individuals at all times.
- Recognise safeguarding issues for vulnerable children and adults and know when to escalate.
Team Working, Planning and Organising
- Work collaboratively with the clinical team, operational staff and branch staff to ensure effective communication.
- Prioritise own workload effectively.
- Gain knowledge of pending customers and plan accordingly.
Clinical and Governance
- Maintain clinical updates and evidence of CPD and revalidation.
- Ensure safeguarding issues are raised in accordance with policy.
- Work with quality teams for auditing and improvement.
- Monitor, review and update Nurse-Led clients in a timely manner as discussed with Clinical Services Manager.
- Provide clinical advice and support to branch and care staff regarding complex clients.
- Train and assess carers and nurses within the clinical caseload; participate in additional training as required.
- Attend all mandatory training and updates.

Qualifications and Skills
Essential
- Level 3
- Minimum of 1 year’s experience in acute/complex settings
- Excellent communication skills
- Team player
- Good attendance record
- Flexible approach to working hours and practices
- Must be a car driver with own transport
Desirable
- Teaching and assessing qualifications
- Community experience
- Good IT skills
- Tracheostomy and Ventilator experience
