Nursery Practitioner

Here at Nurse Seekers are proud to be working for a private Day Nursery which is rated 'Outstanding' by Ofsted who are looking to employ a Level 3 Qualified Nursery Practitioner to work in the baby room at their well-established setting based in East Oxford. The successful candidate's main purpose of the role will be to work as an effective member of the early year's practitioner team delivering flexible, high quality, education and care that meets the needs of the young children and their families within the setting.

The Nursery has been open for over 19 years and has placement for 42 children. Many of the employees at the nursery have been there for over ten years and have chosen to build their career at our provision due to the close-knit support network we have established.

Most children enter the nursery at 9-12 months and so the successful candidates will be key in not only representing our nursery but ensuring the smooth transition, while understanding the needs of the child and their family in partnership with our nursery.

Key Responsibilities

* To ensure the safe care of all the children within the group and within other groups, where appropriate.

* Ensuring compliance with all nursery policies and procedures, Health and Safety legislation, the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework statutory requirements as governed by the Department for Education and regulated by Ofsted.
* Develop high quality interactions, which extend children's learning and thinking.
* To act as key person for a group of children, by observing monitoring and accurately recording each child's individual development.
* To plan, prepare and participate in a range of age-appropriate activities that promotes each child's physical, intellectual, social, and emotional needs to enable each child to reach their full potential.
* To ensure that the planned activities come from the children's next steps, observations, and interests, as the Early Years Foundation Stage framework requires.
* To ensure that all your key children have an accurate up to date record of their learning and achievements.
* To liaise with parents of your key children when a child is collected from nursery. To provide concise and accurate information to parents such as activities undertaken during the day, what they have eaten slept in accordance with the nursery's collection policy.
* To supervise, effectively mentor, and be a good role model for other more junior early years practitioners and help to support new early years practitioners integrate with the rest of the team.
* To support each of your key children's transition to the next age group room.
* In consultation with the Room Leader, Deputy Manager, Nursery Manager and parents, assist in identifying suitable care plans when accommodating children with special educational needs.
* To liaise with parents of your key children when a child is collected from nursery. To provide concise and accurate information to parents such as activities undertaken during the day, what they have eaten slept in accordance with the nursery's collection policy.

Essesntial Criteria

* Completion of a recognised F&R Level 3 Diploma - Early Years Educator (or equivalent)
* Minimum of one years' experience working with children aged under 5 years
* Clear understanding of the importance of safeguarding children
* Qualification in Paediatric First Aid
* Have acted as a key person to a minimum of four children at any one time.
* Confidence and good positive communication are essential to this role.
